Many believers say that they have difficulty discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks to us IN OUR SPIRIT, giving us WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING if we seek the will of God.
It depends on whom we are trying to HEAR, whom we are LISTENING to. Do I WANT to hear from God? Do I really WANT His guidance or do I want my own desire? Whom do I want to please? Myself, other people, or do I want to be pleasing to Jesus Christ? That will determine whom I am listening to. Do I want to fit in with the world? Do I want things my way? Because then I am listening to the devil, and to other voices. The question is: Do I really want to hear from God?
Jesus said that those who are pure in heart will see God. If I purify my motives and I seek the will of God then I will SEE the hand of God, I will HEAR His voice and I will gain UNDERSTANDING. I will DISCERN when the Lord is speaking to me. His sheep LISTEN to His voice and they FOLLOW Him.
Am I LISTENING to hear His voice or am I satisfied to accept all other influences including my own? Am I pure in heart? Am I seeking the will of God? If I am seeking to please Him then His voice will come through LOUD AND CLEAR.
