It is important that we consider ourselves and make sure that we are still in tune with what Jesus wants of us.
We read in Haggai 1:7 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways."
It is very easy to find fault and condemn other people. We seldom are honest enough to reflect on ourselves.
We read in Luke 6:41-45 Jesus said "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 "Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye. 43 "For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. 44 "For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 "The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart."
Believers often JUSTIFY themselves by FAITH and they forget to look at their actions. We will be JUDGED by our actions and NOT by our FAITH. If we believe Jesus Christ we will do what He said, we will OBEY HIM and we make sure that we bear proper fruit.
Now the question is: WHAT IS THE STANDARD by which we should judge ourselves. There is only one standard and that is the standard of the Judge. And that Judge is JESUS CHRIST, we will be judge by Him and by HIS WORDS, nothing else.
We have the opportunity now to correct what we have done wrong. We need to reflect on our deeds and we need to ASK the HOLY SPIRIT to EXAMINE us to SHOW us HOW GOD SEES US. Our own opinion of ourselves does not count. What really counts is: HOW DOES JESUS SEE ME?
King David asked God to show him. We read in Psalm 139:23-24 "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." We need to ask the Lord to show us how HE SEES US, then we must correct while we still have the time before judgment day. Because if we don’t attend to it now it will be too late.
The GRACE of GOD and the MERCY of CHRIST allows us to FIX UP NOW and if we DON’T FIX UP we will come into JUDGMENT. We need to serve God with a CLEAR CONSCIENCE. Our conscience is the first line of defense.
Paul wrote we read in 1 Corinthians 4:4 "For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the One who EXAMINES me is the LORD." So even if I am in my own conscience clear that does not acquit me. I must ASK the Lord, let Your Holy Spirit EXAMINE me and tell me is there any wrongful way in me and please help me so that I can go and fix it up.
If there is somebody that I must go to and go and ask their forgiveness, something that I need to fix up, let the Holy Spirit condemn me now, convince me now, let me obey and say: Lord I want to be PURE and HOLY in YOUR SIGHT, help me and the Lord will help us.
Some people have REJECTED THEIR CONSCIENCE , they are not even talking to God but they have rejected their conscience also. Paul writes in 1 Timothy 1:19 "KEEPING FAITH and a GOOD CONSCIENCE, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
If we IGNORE our CONSCIENCE and we IGNORE the HOLY SPIRIT then we will run aground, suffer shipwreck and we will be lost, we will not enter the Kingdom of God.
The Lord promise the Holy Spirit for that purpose He says in John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."
We must TRUST in the Lord and ASK HIM to EXAMINE us and to SHOW us and then we can have a CLEAR CONSCIENCE and also be evaluated by the Lord Himself. Let the Holy Spirit examine you and then you will find out HOW GOD SEES YOU before it is too late, do it now. Ask the Lord to show you and He will show you what you need to do to be PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT.
