Just recently there is much talk about war, about guns, about self-protection, a lot of uncertainty. Now as Christians the question is asked how does a Christian react to violence or war, how are we to conduct ourselves?
A born again Christian BELONGS to the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN where JESUS CHRIST IS THE KING. If we belong to His Kingdom and we are part of that Kingdom we OBEY CHRIST hundred percent. We do what He said we must do, we are HIS SERVANTS and we OBEY HIM.
We read what Isaiah wrote about Jesus Christ in Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called: Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." And that is who Jesus is THE PRINCE OF PEACE. He came to abolish war, He did not participate in any war or any resistance or in any fighting.
When He stood in front of Pilot and He was asked why he would NOT DEFEND HIMSELF Jesus answered we read in John 18:36 "My Kingdom is not of this world: if My Kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is My Kingdom not from hence."
The Kingdom of God is not of this world, but if we are part of the Kingdom of Christ where Jesus Christ is LORD then we OBEY HIM. Jesus gave us clear instructions on how to act, what to do us Christians.
We read in Matthew 5: 39-42 Jesus said: "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away."
That is the INSTRUCTION of CHRIST. The Lord Jesus told us NOT TO RESIST EVIL but to turn the other cheek. We are not to engage in war. If we are part of the Kingdom of Christ and His servants then we OBEY HIM and we TRUST HIM, HE WILL PROTECT US we do not protect ourselves.
Paul wrote in Romans 12:19 he says: "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, VENGEANCE IS MINE; I WILL REPAY, saith the Lord." That is God’s instruction, Jesus said we must leave the vengeance to Him.
We read in Hebrews 10:30 he says: "For we know Him that hath said, VENGEANCE BELONGETH UNTO ME, I WILL RECOMPENSE, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall JUDGE his people."
There is NO SUCH THING AS A CHRISTIAN ACTIVIST, just as little as there is a SINNING CHRISTIAN. If we are Christians if we are part of the Kingdom of Christ, we OBEY CHRIST one hundred percent we do not disobey Him in one single thing.
We read in Proverbs 17:11 "An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him." If we rebel we can expect the severest treatment against us.
We also read in Isaiah 30:1 "Woe to the rebellious children," declares the LORD, "Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;
"Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of Me; and that cover with a covering, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin." KJV Isaiah 30:1.
If we TRUST IN GOD we OBEY HIM and we do what Jesus Christ said we should do and we TRUST HIM to EXCECUTE JUDGMENT and RIGHTEOUSNESS and VENGEANCE over whatever is wrong. It is not our job to do that.
We read in Psalm 37:5 "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass."
We belong to Christ, if we start DEFENDING ourselves then we are DISOBEDIENT TO JESUS CHRIST. DISOBEDIENCE IS SIN and we put ourselves under JUDGMENT and also we DO NOT TRUST CHRIST.
The moment I start defending myself it is because I am REBELLIOUS towards Jesus Christ and I just DO NOT TRUST Him. I do not trust that He is able to DEFEND me, if He wishes to, like the four men that were cast into the fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar. Tthey said that the God in heaven that we BELIEVE IN, HE CAN if He wants to He can DELIVER us. But let it be known o king that we shall not bow in front of your statue (Daniel 3:17-18). And we know what the outcome of that was, but they PUT their TRUST IN GOD, they did not DEFEND themselves.
As us Christians, Jesus gave us exactly that very same instruction that we should NOT DEFEND OURSELVES, we should NOT GO TO WAR, we should NOT FIGHT but we should put our future and our destiny in the Hands of Christ. We must OBEY HIM.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:25 "For whosoever will SAVE his LIFE shall LOSE it: and whosoever will LOSE his LIFE for MY SAKE shall FIND it."
If we follow Christ, if we are part of the Kingdom of God, if we call ourselves born again then we shall OBEY JESUS CHRIST and we shall TRUST HIM to DELIVER us if He wishes to do so. But our eyes should be on the MASTER, we are HIS SERVANTS to do HIS WILL and to OBEY HIM. We are NOT to take our own ACTIONS and follow our own mind. We must SUBMIT TO CHRIST and He will carry us through and He will do whatever is right in His sight.
