The future

We live in extremely uncertain times. The world is in the biggest economic crisis ever. Many have felt the effects and have woken up to the stark reality of the uncertainty of the future. Others are still mesmerized by the media, watching the soap operas and believing some solution or savior will emerge to take away the bad dream, solve the problems.

There are many secular and Christian prophets that try to predict the future but they don’t even know if they will still be alive tomorrow, yet people are eager to hear there opinions. The reason we want to know the future is for us to escape hardship.

The bottom line is that nobody knows what will happen or really has a solution. The world’s problems are just too many. Each of us has his own survival problem.

There is however one person Who is thoroughly in control and knows what will happen. It was written by the prophet Amos in Amos 5:6 "If a calamity occurs in a city has not the LORD done it? 7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets.

God is in control but few care to take council from Him.

Many Christian prophets and Bible scholars predict the rapture. When the rapture does not happen like many are expecting they will fall away from the faith because they only had their hopes on an escape from the tribulation and never got into a relationship with Jesus.

Immaterial of what happens in the near future ultimate destiny is known. On this earth it is death. We only do not know when it will be, it can be any moment or a few years from now. We can with certainty say that most of those alive today will not be around in 70 years from now. We don’t know how it will happen or where but we are guaranteed that it will happen. The uncertain part is where we will spend eternity. Those who are alive have an opportunity to prepare for eternity, for those already dead it is too late.

The moment we die our destiny is already decided. We shall come before the judgment throne of Christ.

Matthew 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

What really will matter, is how we prepared for the judgment day. Jesus warned us not to accumulate earthly riches but to make sure that we are rich in the Kingdom of heaven. James warned in

James 5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure! 4 Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. 5 You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and put to death the righteous man; he does not resist you.

The day of the Lord will come like a thief, then there will be no more opportunity to prepare, it will be for ever too late. Once the door has closed opportunity is gone for ever. Then people will cry out but it will be for ever too late.

Matthew 24:37 "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 "For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 "Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 "Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

Many people are not ready, few Christians are ready for the return of Jesus. Christians have been told that it is enough just to believe in Jesus to be saved. Many are hoping for a last minute repentance and a quick prayer, they want to slip into heaven by the back door.
Heaven has no back door.

The only way to enter heaven is to have a relationship with Jesus. If He does not know us, we will not enter heaven. You do not get to know a person by meeting them. You get acquainted through a relationship. Many Christians could not even honor their commitment to a spouse. They divorced. They treated their relationship with Jesus in the same way and now they hope to spend eternity in heaven with Him. They only started a relationship with Jesus but never continued. The only way a relationship survives is through commitment and involvement of both parties. It means abstaining from others and remaining faithful. Few Christians are faithful to Jesus but still they hope on spending eternity with Him. They are fooling themselves. There is no such thing as once saved always saved. If you have forsaken your first love, which is Jesus, you are no longer with Him and have no hope for eternity.

If you follow Jesus, you forsake all else. Jesus said:" Luke 9:23 And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

If you did not bid this world good bye and follow Jesus, became obedient to Him, you have no hope of eternity in heaven, whatever you believe. He will say to you: Go away I never knew you, you who work iniquity.

Without Jesus, nobody will enter the kingdom of heaven. He is the way the truth and the life. If you want to make sure of your future in heaven you need to get to know Jesus now, turn away from you sin and yourself, follow and obey Him and get into a relationship with Him. If you don’t seek Him you will never find Him. If you don’t spend time with Him, you will never get to know Him.

If you can hear this message you still have the opportunity to seek Jesus. Don’t delay. There is only one way, Jesus or eternal damnation away from the face of God in never ending pain and suffering.
Seek Jesus now, repent, and invite Him into your life. Follow and obey Him before it is for ever too late.
