Don’t test God

We are by nature chancers. We take chances and sometimes people take
chances with God as well. People know that something is wrong but then
they go inquire of the Lord. One way they do it is they will pray about
something and then they will take their Bible and they say: Lord please
give me an answer on this one please. Then they will open the Bible and
say: Where I open it, there is going to be my answer. It is a very
dangerous thing to do that, because if we are not pure in our hearts,
God will answer us according to our crookedness.

We read in
Psalm 18:26 "With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the
froward thou wilt shew thyself froward." So if you come to God with
fraud in your heart God ,will give you a fraudulent answer. God knows
what is going on in your heart. When we come to God we must be pure in
our hearts or else He will answer us according to what we want to hear.
If we play games with God, He plays games with us.

We read in 2
Chronicles 18 that Jehoshaphat and Ahab wanted to go up to war together
but they decided to first inquire of the prophets of the Lord. We read
in verse 4 Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please
inquire first for the word of the LORD."  5 then the king of Israel
assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we
go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" And they said,
"Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king." 6 But
Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the LORD here that we
may inquire of him?" 7 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There
is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, but I hate him, for
he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah,
son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."

So
Ahab gathered for himself prophets who prophesied good over him. He
sent for Michaiah and when he came he also prophesied good, Ahab was
worried about this. Why does this man prophecy good? verse 15 "Then the
king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to speak to me
nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?" And then only did this
man really speak the truth because God told him to speak a lie, it was
the intention of God to destroy Ahab.

Now God put a LYING SPIRIT
into the mouths of the prophets. You see what happened verse 18 Micaiah
said, "Therefore, hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on
His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His
left. 19 "The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up
and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that.

20
"Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will
entice him.’ And the LORD said to him, ‘How?’ 21 "He said, ‘I will go
and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ So if we
want deceit then God will send us deceit, because that is what we
really want in our hearts and it did happen that way. Ahab went up and
he was killed. God send him what he wanted, but it was God’s intention
to kill him because of his wickedness.

People want to be
deceived and that is what exactly will happened at the end of time as
well. We read in 2 Thessalonians 2 about the antichrist the man of sin,
lawlessness verse 8 "Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the
Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the
appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord
with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish,
because they DID NOT RECEIVE the LOVE OF the TRUTH so as to be saved.
11 For this reason God will send upon them a DELUDING INFLUENCE so that
they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be
judged who DID NOT BELIEVE THE TRUTH, but took PLEASURE in WICKEDNESS."

If
we don’t want to believe the truth God will send us the lie because we
want the lie. We will believe the lie and we will perish.

We
read in Matthew 4:7 Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is
written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’" If we put
God to the test then we shall fail because God is not tested. God is
God Almighty. We submit ourselves to God, if we test God then we shall
perish.

WHAT SHALL WE DO?

We must come before God with a
pure heart. If we seek truth we will find truth. If we play games with
God, God will play games with us.

We read in Matthew 5:8 the
Lord Jesus said "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see
God." So if we really want the truth we ask the Lord and He will give
us the truth. If we play games with God, He will certainly play games
with us.
