You will often hear people say that we are not under law we are under grace so we can sin but they forget the first part of that scripture in Romans 6:14 "For SIN shall not be MASTER OVER you, for you are not under law but under grace."
I want to talk about the nature of law and grace. We read in Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to FULFILL."
Further we read in Galatians 3:24 "Wherefore the LAW was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH."
Now let us look at the nature of school, because the LAW was our SCHOOLMASTER. School is a part time business, obedience to the law is a part time business. Under the Old Testament were justified by keeping the law. Under the COMMANDMENTS you only observe the Sabbath, the rest of the time is yours. You only sacrifice ten percent of your income as a sacrifice or as an offering.
It is totally different with GRACE. GRACE asks for much more than just ten percent, than just complying to the law. Jesus demands everything, not just part time, not just the fulfillment of a few commandments. Jesus wants everything of you and me.
Lets look at GRACE, the GRACE OF GOD was displayed through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. God the Father said about Jesus, He said: THIS IS MY BELOVED SON LISTEN TO HIM and NOBODY COMES TO THE FATHER but THROUGH JESUS CHRIST because He is the Way the Truth and the Life, He is the Door. We go only through Him, He is grace. Jesus’ command was: FOLLOW ME plain and simple.
We read it in Luke 9:23 And He was saying to them all "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must DENY himself, and TAKE UP his CROSS DAILY and FOLLOW ME." Jesus wants total devotion and total obedience, we don’t live by law anymore, we live by total obedience to Jesus Christ we abandon our self, we leave everything we obey His commands what Jesus said and we follow His voice every day of the week, not just on the Sabbath.
We read in John 12:48-50 "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. 49 "For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. 50 "I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me."
We are called into total obedience to Jesus Christ, Jesus says My sheep know My voice and they follow Me. They HEAR MY VOICE and they FOLLOW ME (John 10:27).
A lot of people hear His voice but they are not willing to follow. His sheep follow Him. If we do not follow His voice we are not His sheep or we are disobedient sheep and we will not enter His Kingdom.
He said WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING. We need to follow His voice, be guided by His Spirit. Jesus said: If you love Me you will keep My commandments and Me and My Father will come and live with you, abide with you and I will reveal Myself to you. That is the nature of GRACE. The nature of grace is total and utter obedience to every command of Jesus Christ and living in a daily relationship with Him, following His voice, submitting My will to His will listening to Him. Doing what He wants, submitting everything, my whole life, my goals, my thoughts my whole being to Jesus Christ.
He died for me so that I can have eternal life and therefore I must die to myself and obey Him wholly, totally. Jesus did not come to do His own will. He did nothing on His own imitative, everything He did was under guidance of the Father. The Father never forced Him and Jesus will never forced us. He guides His sheep, if they LISTEN to His voice; they hear His voice but most of them don’t listen, they don’t follow. If we want to be saved by grace we must use that grace and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and be guided by His Holy Spirit so that we can be prepared to be suitable for the Kingdom of Heaven; without speck, clean white pure because the Holy Spirit will work on us will guide us into all truth. He will remind us of all that Jesus said and will guide us into a life of fruitfulness. Pure knowledge of the law will not save us, we need to be guided by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide us into total and utter obedience to Jesus Christ through which we will be saved. We’ve got to do the will of Christ to be saved by Christ. He is the Door and He will either say: Come in! or else He will say: Go away I never knew you, you never had time for Me. That is the grace of God Christ in us, guiding us into the fullness of obedience and fruitfulness in Himself.
