Which Jesus?

I am quite amazed that people, Christians say to me: How do you know that you are worshipping the right Jesus? Christians ask me that. You know, there are so many versions of the Bible and people make their pick of which version or diversion of the Bible they wish to use. It seems as though they want to make a pick of which Jesus they want to serve as well. What is worrying is that these are Christians, these are people preaching the gospel that ask you such a question. Jesus was quite clear about this. We read in John 10 Jesus says: My sheep know My voice and they follow Me. In John 10:4-5 we read “When He puts forth all His own, He goes before them, and the sheep follow Him because they know His voice. 5 And a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” If we are His sheep we shall know His voice, we shall follow Him.

There is so many people that believe in Jesus that they have heard about, Jesus they have read so much about, they have heard about Jesus they even preach about Jesus they talk about Jesus but they don’t know Jesus. Jesus said: My sheep know My voice and they follow Me. If I don’t know His voice I have a problem because He says: My sheep know My voice and they follow Me. I need to know His voice. Jesus said John 14:21,23 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him. 23 and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.” Jesus will come and live with you and He will disclose Himself to you and to me if we accept Him into our live’s if we seek Him. Then it is not a matter of reading about Him anymore, it is not about reading in a Bible, in scripture. Those who know Jesus are His children. We need to know Jesus Christ. He said in John 15 My Father is the vinedresser and I am the true vine, He says he who abides in Me bears much fruit. We need to abide in Jesus and He says without Me you can do nothing. But you know, the problem is, we read so much about Jesus and we never get to know Jesus Himself. We don’t get into a relationship with Jesus, it’s scary because Jesus said in Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your Name perform many miracles? 23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” There are many people who profess to be Christians, many people who have set the sinner’s prayer and they belief that they are saved but they don’t know Jesus. They never went on a relationship with Jesus.

It doesn’t mean that because you have met a person that you know him, you get to know a person through a relationship. The same with Jesus Christ. Many people do not know Jesus. They call themselves Christians they say they believe in Jesus, but they don’t know Him. We need to know Jesus Christ. Those who follow Him, they get to know Him.

Paul had a relationship with Jesus Christ, he met Jesus Christ first hand. We read about it in Acts 9. Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. A bright light shone from the sky and Jesus spoke to Paul and he said to Him: Who are you Lord?  He said: I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. Jesus revealed Himself to Paul, Paul got to know Him, he did not get to know about Him, he got to know Him. We need to know Jesus, and then we will not be confused about which Jesus. The only way that we will not be confused, the only way that we will not be deceived, is by knowing the Master’s voice ourselves. Jesus said: Draw closer to Me and I will draw closer to you. We must seek Him and we will find Him. We read in Romans 8:14 “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, they are sons of God.” If we are not guided by the Spirit of God, we are guided by our minds, or by our knowledge of Jesus but we won’t know Jesus. We won’t get to know Jesus through teachings, through hearsay, through books or even through scripture, whichever version of the scripture you are reading or you choose.

We read about Job in Job 42 that after his tribulations he said: Lord, from hearsay I have heard about Thee but now my eyes have seen Thee. It was only after Job had come through tribulation that he met up with God, that he really got to know God.

Many Christians, professing Christians that don’t know Jesus Christ and that is scary, that’s a problem. We need to know Him and the only way we will get to know Him is through a relationship, by drawing closer to Him, by getting to know Him. Then we won’t ask: Which Jesus? We will know Jesus. That’s the only way my friends. If we don’t know Jesus Christ, He will say to us: Go away from Me I never knew you. We must make an effort to get to know Jesus. We don’t get to know Him by sitting and reading about Him by talking about Him by going meeting with friends who know Jesus. Somebody else might know Jesus, he might tell you about Jesus but you need to get to know Jesus yourself. I need to get to know Jesus and to have a relationship with Him myself or else He will tell me one day: Go away from Me I never knew you. I should not have any doubt in my mind about which Jesus, because then I am believing in that which I do not know. Then I could just as well believe in any thing. If we believe in Jesus Christ we will keep His commandments, we will obey Him, we will get to know Him. He said: Draw closer to Me and I will draw closer to you. Jesus gave us many promises which are in many cases not fulfilled in the hearts and the lives of Christians, because they have simply not got to know Him.

We kid ourselves. Let us just think for one moment what does it mean when we read that Jesus says: My sheep know My voice and they will not listen to a stranger. It is as though we read and it doesn’t make sense to us, we just repeat the words, that lulls around in our heads and that’s the problem with book knowledge, that’s the problem with teaching. A relationship is when I spend time in His presence, I get to know His voice, He reveals Himself to me. Do you know Jesus better than anything or anybody else? How real is He to you? How real is Jesus Christ to you? My friend, He is God Almighty and Jesus said those who are pure of heart they shall see God. What do I see? Do I see calamity around me, do I see fear, do I see problems, a lot of people see demons, they see the devil in everything. Jesus said: Those who are pure of heart they will see God. We must get to see Jesus, we must get into a relationship with Him, we must get to know His voice, then we won’t be confused, or else we will be deceived. We must make sure, each of us must make sure that we know the right Jesus, there is one God, one faith and one baptism and one Jesus Christ, one Savior, one Door through which we shall enter into the kingdom of God, none else. We must make sure now, you must make sure now that you know the right Jesus or else He will say to you: Go away from Me I never knew you. If I draw closer to Him, He will draw closer to me. He is waiting. He says: I stand at the door and I knock and whoever opens, I will come in and I will have meal with him. My friend, invite Jesus in and make sure that He stays inside, don’t walk away after that, many people do. They think they are saved, they have just met Jesus but they haven’t gone into a relationship with Jesus. Make sure that you have a relationship with Jesus Christ then you will not be disappointed at His coming.
