Worthy Ambassadors

The image of Jesus Christ of Christianity is tarnished through people that call themselves Christians and do not live worthy lives; they do not live holy lives. Jesus Christ called us to holiness, called us to a life dedicated to God, through Himself. Therefore Paul also writes, he says: I live no more but Christ liveth in me and the life that I now live I live to the glory of God through Christ who liveth in me.

The question I want to ask about us, is that true of us?  Are we worthy Ambassadors of Jesus Christ? Are we walking in a way, in a manner, worthy of our calling? It is because of Christians that believe that they are saved and they are living an unworthy life, they are not truly Christians, because of that the name of Christ is slandered amongst the heathen. Because of people who are really sinners, they are not converted, they have not been changed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, they are not really born again. They walk around with a label of born again. They talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk and they are really not doing the body of Christ any good. Paul writes in Ephesians 4:1 “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called” If we belong to Jesus Christ we should walk and talk like Jesus did. Jesus walked and He talked and He did everything that He did under the inspiration and the guidance of God the Father. Therefore He sends His Holy Spirit to indwell those who follow Him so that they can be guided by the Holy Spirit and that they can be true Ambassadors of Christ. There are a very few Ambassadors of Jesus Christ today. The Bible that the world reads is not the one that is paper and leather, it is us. We are the living Word of God, written on human hearts. Our actions show whether we are Christians or not. There are very few Christians today that are really worthy of being called a Christian.

We read in 2 Corinthians 5:20 Paul says “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us;” When you talk to people are your words like the words of God, or are you just the same as other people? Is Jesus Christ living inside of you and is He speaking through you or are you also a powerless Christian, just a Christian in name? Can the world see that Jesus Christ is living in you, is His power working through you or are you just a secular Christian, just a label, that just has Christianity in name, just walking along with the crowd or are streams of living water really flowing through you? Are you an example to your kids, to everybody? Do they see Jesus Christ in you?  Is the power of Jesus Christ working in you and through you? If it is not, the problem is not with God the problem lies with you and me because Jesus Christ puts His Holy Spirit in those who believe in Him. That’s up to us to listen to the Holy Spirit, to obey to walk the walk as well as to talk the talk. A lot of people are just talkers they are not walkers they are not doers, they are merely hearers of the Word and they deceive themselves. They can pray nice prayers and they looked very sanctified. But you know what, God sees in the heart. The eyes of a child can tell you whether a person is real or not, children look right through you. They can see, they are undefiled until they also get defiled and they start lying and cheating like the rest of us. They get taught to do that. We must be like children, unassuming.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” If you are a child of God that is true of you, if you have accepted Jesus Christ, He put His Holy Spirit inside of you and you are a temple of God. God does not live in a chapel down the road, He does not live in a temple build with bricks and stones and mortar. Jesus Christ lives in those who belief in Him. That is the Body of Christ, that is the Church. The Church is not that building where people congregate, where they go for funerals and weddings. The Church is you and me, Jesus Christ lives in us, His Spirit lives in us. The only Jesus that the world will ever see is you and me. How does Jesus come through in you and in me. Do people see Jesus in you and me or do we cheat like the rest. Do we also look for opportunities to cheat on tax, look for opportunities to lie, white lies, or are we truly sons of God. Are we really converted, are we really changed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Are we worthy Ambassadors for Christ? If we are not, there is a terrible judgment coming on us and we better repent and seek Jesus and become worthy Ambassadors of the cross of Christ. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:17 “If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.” That doesn’t sound too good. If you call yourself a Christian, if you have accepted Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of God lives inside of you, that’s His temple. You are an instrument of the Holy Spirit if you avail yourself to Him, if you don’t do that you are not worthy. Then you are like a branch that doesn’t bear fruit. You know what Jesus said about a branch that doesn’t bear fruit; it gets cut off and thrown in the fire. Contrary to what people say about being saved and nothing can touch them, that’s not true.

Paul writes, he says, if any man defile the temple of God, him God shall destroy, for the temple of God is holy which temple ye are. So many preachers of the gospel, who die of cancer, terminal illnesses, they are cut off; they are taken away because they have lost their calling. They are not walking worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ. Many Christians in churches are sick today, the church is sick, why? Because the people that sit in that Church, who carry the name of Jesus Christ are not worthy of their calling. The judgment of God is coming on them. It is not about you my friend, it is not about me, it is about Jesus Christ. We are Ambassadors for Jesus Christ. We are not here to serve our own purpose and ourselves, Jesus called us to bear fruit to be Ambassadors for Him, to do His will. He didn’t call us for a nice time; He called us so that Jesus can be Jesus in and through you and me. And if we defile the temple of God then God shall destroy us. Let us take heed and let us walk uprightly. Let us be worthy Ambassadors of Jesus Christ and the cross of Christ, that’s what it’s about. It’s about glorifying Jesus Christ, obeying Him, living to His glory and to the glory of God the Father. Next time you pray the Lord’s Prayer, remember, take heed, He says in Matthew 6:9-10 “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” It is about the kingdom of God, it is not about the glorification of man, let us be careful. Him who destroys, who defiles the temple of God, those God will destroy. Let us serve God with a whole heart; let us repent of our selfish and sinful ways and ourselves. Take Jesus Christ seriously; because we shall be judged, we shall come in judgment if we make a mockery of the name of Jesus Christ we shall not go unpunished. Let us be worthy ambassadors of Jesus Christ our Lord and God the Father.

Are you saying that everyone in the ministry and/or the church, that dies before their time is walking in sin and under the judgement of God?  If so, then what is grace all about?  Are we not all sinners in our fleshly bodies?  I read the Bible as saying that we are saved by grace, not by works, which equates to anything we do or don’t do.  We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  I don’t see anywhere in the bible where it says people who die before their time, and their time is determined by God and not what we think it should be, have rebelled against God or have come under judgement.  In fact in the current covenant there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  If we are not condemned then why would we be smiten with sickness and plague?  If our sin condemns us then why did Jesus already pay the price, or, take the condemnation upon His body?  If God places sickness and disease on us then doesn’t He negate His own Son’s death? We must not judge others who have sickness and disease as being sinners lest a worse fate come upon us.  We are to love our brethren and not judge.  This is truth.  God’s Blessings be upon you.   Rusty
